Photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS) is used to determine particle size by measuring the rate of fluctuations in laser light intensityscattered by particles as they diffuse through a fluid. Electrophoretic light scattering (ELS) is used to determine zeta potential by measuring the Doppler shift of scattered light caused by the electrophoretic movement of charged particles under an applied electric field.
